J H Davis Memorial Hall stands on the traditional lands of the Gumbaynggirr People. Standing on lands traditionally owned by the Gumbaynggirr people, the J H Davis Memorial Hall at the Dorrigo Showground is nestled on the edge of the small rural town of Dorrigo, closely cradled by World Heritage listed Gondwana rainforests and cascading waterfalls.
For over 70 years, the main pavilion has been witness to prize plum puddings, jams, local produce and rural delights and the Memorial Hall regularly hosts events exhibiting the creative arts of school children and community members. All year, markets, dances, balls and celebrations fill the hall with life, and this year, the Dorrigo Folk and Bluegrass Festival will be celebrating their 20th festival with an official opening in the hall. The hall is steadfast, in good times and hard – acting as main emergency centre for Dorrigo during the 2020/2021 bushfire devastation but always there, bringing all of the community together and serving as the cultural hub for Dorrigo.
