Central Australian musician Gleny Rae Virus has been living and working in Mparntwe/Alice Springs for the past five years, and has spent this time being inspired by the desert culture and landscape. Alongside her job teaching music in Alice Springs and surrounding communities, Gleny recorded a new album – Momentum – which will be her first release on vinyl. Momentum – her fourth full length solo album – is the most eclectic to date, with one side featuring her vibrant fiddle playing on bluegrass and folk songs, and “the other side” more country soul driven tracks featuring tasty horn section arrangements and lush vocals. Gleny Rae Virus presents her “roo-grass” songs with the Grass Brazoos; Jenny Shimmin on banjo, Quentin Fraser on guitar/dobro and some bloke called Smithy on bass.
