Alan Reid was a founder member of Scotland’s Battlefield Band and in a career lasting 40 years recorded almost 30 albums with the band whilst touring and playing festivals all over the world, including Australia. In 2000 he started a duo with singer/guitarist Rob van Sante and recorded 5 albums, touring the U.K., U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand for the next 19 years. In 2009 Alan was nominated in the Scottish Trad Awards in the songwriting category and in 2016 was inducted with fellow Battlefield Band colleagues in the Scots Traditional Music Hall of Fame. Since 2020 Alan has operated as a soloist with a mix of his own trad. style songs and traditional songs and tunes, all with a slant on Scotland’s history, geography and culture. Alan Reid has also recently teamed up with Scots balladeer and songwriter Christine Kydd to perform mostly traditional songs at several festivals and various venues in Scotland.
