Pierre Filliez began his acting career in Switzerland, his native country, in 2000. He then completed a diploma in Physical Theatre at the International Theatre School of Jaques Lecoq in Paris, France. Since then he has co-founded Shake Shake Theatre with his wife and partner Jessica Nicholls. In Germany, he collaborated with Drehbühne Berlin, OFAJ, he taught theater at the Menagerie e.V. and has produced and performed his own theatre pieces throughout Europe. Since 2022 Pierre has lived in Australia, with his family. He teaches regular physical theatre classes at NIDA and works as a Clown Doctor with Clown Doctors Australia. Since 2023 he has been a mentor at Riverside Theatre’s annual Sharp Short Theatre competition for young people. Pierre also creates masks, puppets and commissioned art works, that are sold internationally.
SHOW DESCRIPTION: The Potato Island – is a joyful, music-filled puppet adventure for families (45 minutes) about friendship, courage, and the power of sharing. On a magical island where everyone lives on potatoes, the peaceful “Chlips” from the North and South suddenly turn against each other, tricked by the sly Pontiac. With the help of the audience (and a few flying potatoes!), two brave young heroes must cross forests and volcanoes to save their island. A funny, heartfelt tale with songs, shadow theatre, and lots of mashed mayhem!
