Hunter and Suzy Owens are singer-songwriters who have performed in various band formations over the years. Hunter is originally from Virginia, USA, Suzy is from Sydney, Australia. Their repertoire consists primarily of original songs, their music drawing on American roots and folk music. They have recorded three CDs: two studio and one live recording with several more in the pipeline. Their songs have been covered by other artists including Anne Kirkpatrick (Slim Dusty’s daughter) and Stuie & Camille French. They won the country section of the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at Merlefest (North Carolina USA) in 2015 and received an honourable mention in the Hazel Dickens Songwriting Contest (Washington DC) in 2016. They are both multi-instrumentalists; in duo mode they share harmony vocals, with Hunter on guitar and fiddle, and Suzy on double bass and frailing banjo.
