This performance primarily highlights the Journey of a Fiddler. The fiddler is Sebastian Flynn. Originally from Liverpool, England, Sebastian trained as a classical violinist. He has since performed and recorded as a professional folk musician in Europe from 1980 to 1995. He has a passion for Irish music, the playing of it and the ‘stories’ and people who travel with its history. Martin Reese is regularly Sebastian’s co-conspirator.
To illustrate his own journey through traditional music , Sebastian – accompanied by Martin Reese and Christian Rizzalli – brings to life in performance, narrative and characters from within Irish fiddling history including the famous collector/documenter of Irish tunes, Francis O’Neil (1848-1936) from Ireland/
The other musicians are Martin Reese and Christian Rizzalli. Martin has been playing traditional music since the late seventies when he joined sessions on mandolin at the Kings Arms in Bangor, North Wales. He is now a regular member of the Brisbane session scene and plays in different bands, including The Stowaways with Christian and Sebastian. Christian is a multi-instrumentalist and singer who regularly participates in sessions and plays with Bartley’s Folly.
