Hailing from Armidale/Uralla in the high country of Anaiwan land, the Rocky Bottom Girls offer a sweet, soulful and powerful mix of original folk and country ballads, Old-Time-inspired tunes and new takes on traditional numbers. The group consists of sisters Jhana and Sujata Allan (banjo, mandolin, fiddle), Clara Murray (guitar, bass, bodhran) and Craig Johnson (bass, guitar) who weave together instrumental artistry, three- and four-part vocal harmonies into a powerful musical concoction.
Their 2024 debut album, “Dorrigo Squash Club”, traces the members’ personal transitions from the city to the country, from the coast to the mountaintop and through the daily struggles of love, parenting, and emotional and environmental crisis, taking listeners on an unforgettable musical journey.
