2011 Workshops

A key feature of the Dorrigo Folk and Bluegrass Festival has always been the Workshops conducted by some of the top artists in their field, who pass on their skills, experience and heritage to a new generation of folk enthusiasts.

We say thank you to the many incredible artists who give their time to present these workshops throughout the weekend. A number of people just keep returning to the Festival to attend them each year.

Once again we will have a diverse range of workshops to choose from, including:

·    Vocal Harmony workshop with Bluegrass Parkway.

·    Australian Songs and Songwriting with Dobe Newton & Roger Corbett from The Bushwackers Band.

·    Fiddlin’ Around with Mark Oats & Clare O’Meara - simply two of the best fiddle players in the business.

·    Rules of Bluegrass (and when to break them!) with Coolgrass

·    Discover Your Voice - Sing Your Song – Susanna Carman

·    Dobro Dynamics with Gary Brown & Peter Fidler

·    Acoustic Busking Workshop with Serenation

Our musical instrument workshops cover many different styles of Folk, Bluegrass, Old-Time and Jazz Manouche including:

Autoharp –  with Evan Mathieson
Banjo – Old-Time Clawhammer and Bluegrass style
Dobro – Getting started, and Advanced level
Double Bass
Fiddle – Old-Time and Bluegrass style
Guitar – Bluegrass Flat-picking, and Percussive style
Harmonica
– with Russ Redford
Mandolin
and more…

A new element to this year’s Festival is a Comedy Workshop presented by Alan Glover. Discover the inner funny man within you!

The popular Festival Choir Workshop will be conducted this year by members of Coolgrass – so it could be a “choir with a twist…” Bring your voice along and join in the fun. This workshop will lead to a performance by the Festival Choir on the main stage.

We hope to have the programme finalised at the end of August, but of course will be subject to change.

Don’t forget, all Workshops are covered in your Festival Pass.
